This series of work was inspired by Cantor’s Set Theory and Chaos Theories. With the addition of three dimensional shapes and curved surfaces the perception of the image can change giving contrasting and sometimes confusing points of view. Wonderful. The more you look, the more there is to see.
Over several decades Steve was drawn to studying the way scientists, mathematicians, and philosophers perceive the world.
Order and Chaos philosophies have peppered religious and scientific history for millennia with ideas formed around the ‘Chaos Theory’ coming to the fore in the middle of the last century.
Experimenting with various media and 3D forms he developed permanent less vulnerable finishes for watercolour and pastel helping to extend the ways he expressed his visual ideas.
